Žiaromat a.s. is a significant, well-established, and long-standing supplier of refractory materials. The company’s products are designed for demanding high-temperature technological processes involving extreme thermal stress, thermal shocks, and exposure to aggressive chemical environments, particularly in steelworks, foundries, the energy sector, and other industries utilizing industrial furnaces.
A key foundation of the company’s portfolio is its own raw material base – a 10,000 m² site with verified reserves of refractory clays amounting to 1,000,000 tons and an annual extraction capacity of 20,000 tons. More than 66% consists of high-quality refractory clay with an Al₂O₃ content of approximately 32%, representing a strategic input material for the production of top-grade refractory and fireclay products.
Surface mining significantly contributes to optimizing the cost of refractory clay production, thereby creating a solid foundation for the company’s long-term stability as a manufacturer and partner for industrial enterprises across Europe.
The company has been a member of the ŽP Group Podbrezová since 2004.
History
Žiaromat a.s. has a rich history dating back to 1890. During its existence, it has undergone many changes, but has always managed to maintain its leading position among manufacturers of refractory materials. Today, it is one of the leading manufacturers of fireclay products and refractory concretes known throughout the world.
