Refractory mastics and mortars
Refractory Mortars
Žiaromat a.s. offers air-setting mortars for every range of operating temperatures. These mortars are supplied in dry form and are applied by adding water and mixing. Unlike ceramic bonding mortars, firing of the lining is not required to achieve a durable bond, as the bonding process takes place at room temperature.
Refractory mortars are high-quality mixtures of aggregates and refractory clay designed for bonding refractory bricks in linings. Their use is essential for the durability and safety of ceramic linings. It is important to use a suitable refractory mortar compatible with the refractory materials used, as this ensures minimal expansion of the masonry.
Similar to traditional masonry mortars, refractory mortars are applied in a wet state and, after application and drying, form permanent and tight joints.
The range of dry refractory mortars G0, GI, GI Extra, and GIII is designed to provide a suitable mortar for every type of brick manufactured by PCO. This combination ensures uniform properties throughout each layer of the lining. Ceramic bonding (headset) mortars require mixing with water, and the bond gains strength only after heating the lining to the specified temperature.
G0 – service temperature up to 1450 °C
GI – service temperature up to 1400 °C
GI Extra (with cement) – service temperature up to 1400 °C
GIII (with silica sand) – service temperature up to 1400 °C
Refractory mastics
Refractory mastics is a heat-resistant, paste-like material used for sealing, repairs, and bonding in high-temperature applications such as furnaces, boilers, and stoves. It is used to repair cracks, fill gaps, or bond refractory materials, forming a hard insulating layer that withstands thermal shock and provides long-lasting thermal insulation and protection against molten materials.
KTP powder refractory mastics series – service temperature from 1350 °C to 1700 °C
KT plastic refractory mastics series – service temperature from 1350 °C to 1750 °C
